Open wire line routes along main railway lines have been leased from the Myanma Posts
and Telecommunications (MPT). but these are being unstable year by year due to damages by
vandalism and lack of maintenance budgets. Various type of HF/SSB transceivers are
installed at important stations and control offices. these are as follows -
- UHF Radio transceivers
- VHF Transceivers
- HF/DSB Transceivers
- HF/SSB Transceivers
The following are some problems of signal & telecommunication -
- Power supply failures trouble the smooth functioning of colour signal & track
circuits.
- Interlocking between points and signals has been disconnected in many stations.
- Level crossing protection is often not connected with the station masters office and
not interlocked with signaling system.
- At several places the equipment is damaged by floods.
- The block communication line is often interrupted causing train delay.
- There are non-interlocked shunting operations.
Operation Accidents
The number of train accidents for last five years is as follows. About 75% of accidents
is derailment between stations and within stations.
